BIRTHDAY CARD 2020

Every year, I try to come up with an original idea for my annual birthday card. I have always loved Anna Griffin scrapbook papers.  I bought a complimentary pink paper with polka dots.  I really liked the detail of the baby blue ribbon cascading through the paper.

I cut along side the ribbon and attached it over the pink dotted paper. I cut out a large bloom from the Anna Griffin floral paper and glued it on to the pink background.

The card needed a bit of pizazz.  Using my rose colored glass glitter, I added some to the petals of the flowers.

Now that the idea has been put on paper, I can reproduce them in multiples and I'll be ready for upcoming birthdays.  I purposely left the script off the front of the card.  Since the card has such bursts of color, it could be framed and placed on a bedside table.

UPDATED BIRDCAGE 2020

Time to change out the birdcage.  Over the Christmas holidays, it was filled with silver flower picks and glittered star ornaments.

I have to give credit to my friend Tara, who inspired me to update my birdcage.  I hope she isn't offended when I show you her spectacular birdcage.

I took the top middle section 'roof ' first. The  first step was emptying out and vacuuming all the glitter from the bottom of my cage.

My cage didn't have the capacity to hold a lamp because of it's size. I started with some vintage books that I picked up at our library sale.  I love the cover of the top book.  Love that character!

I picked up some faux asparagus fern(it's not as messy) at Michaels.  Once it was trimmed, it fit well in an estate sale creamer. The creamer pitcher was placed on top of the vintage books.

I pulled out the girls silver baby cups.  Then I added a very old baby cup from my Mom's goodies.

The cups were set next to the books and pitcher.

I'm thinking a bird's nest would look nice too, but it's cold outside and I'll get it out of the tree on a warmer day.

For right now, I'm enjoying this updated birdcage.

By the way, I have to thank my friend Brenda for the amazing birdcage.  Wow, have I had fun using this in my home decorations!

VALENTINE CARD 2020

As I began to ponder the design for this years' Valentine, I went through my sister Terri's card making supplies.  I found this one and decided that my idea would follow this theme.  I had the card stock Valentine paper and red cards, but was missing the ribbon.

I purchased a package of red Valentine doily's and pulled out her heart punch. There were also dimensional buttons to compliment the card.

The card insert was a cute red inked Valentine definition that was found in Terri's supplies.
I recreated it for my insert.

To Terri, let your imagination guide me through my yearly Valentine design.
I miss her so!

VALENTINE MANTLE 2020

Well, it's time for my favorite time of the year!  Recall the Christmas mantle 2019.

I decided to keep some of the elements and add the Valentine items to it. Vintage red books, a red tartan child's suitcase and glass heart given to me by my dear friend Tara were the first elements on the mantle.

My nail and red stringed heart from Lizzie found a place by the mantle clock.

One of my first Valentine collages was leaned up against the mirror.

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!
